(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Westmont Track and Field traveled to the eastern reaches of Los Angeles County to compete in the 38th addition of the Pomona-Pitzer Invitation on Saturday. Participation in this event is a long-standing tradition for the Warriors.

"The big prize of the day," noted Westmont's assistant coach Lindsey Connolly, "is that the heat and flight winners were awarded a t-shirt."

Several Westmont athletes came home with extra laundry.

Chief among those was freshman Janelle Wanliss, who not only won heat number one of the 400 meter hurdles, but was the first place winner of the entire event. Wanliss time of 62.35 beat out 27 other competitors and was a personal record as well.

Wanliss also competed in the 100 meter hurdles, placing 11th overall with a time of 15.70.

Also earning a t-shirt was Charlotte Williams in the 400 meter race, posting a personal collegiate best time of 59.58. Williams finished first in heat number five.

Hannah Krause also claimed clothing, finishing first in the fifth heat of the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.80.

"Easton Rose cleared 3.55 meters (11-7.75) in the pole vault and secured a mark for the PacWest Conference Championship," noted Connolly.

"Sophie Stoddart, Sam Nealon and Brennan Givens all had strong personal records in the 5,000 meters," noted Connolly. "William Covington ran his first collegiate track 5,000 and he and Sam Nealon worked well together through the race."

Stoddart finished eighth in the women's race, posting a time of 18:21.19. Nealon (15:17.34) and Givens (15:36.36) placed seventh and 12th respectively in the men's race. Covington (15:11.79) placed fifth.

The women's 4 x 100 team of Hannah Krause, Grace Sobrianis, Ava Shaffer and Williams placed fifth, posting their best time of the season at 47.87.
