ROCKLIN, Calif. — The Westmont Warriors women's volleyball team returned to the win column in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon, securing a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-22, 25-15) over the Jessup Warriors at Warrior Arena. The victory marks Westmont's first Pacific West Conference win of the season.
Match Breakdown
Westmont set the tone from the service line and at the net, keeping Jessup off-balance throughout the afternoon. After edging out tight 25-22 victories in the first two sets, the Warriors put together a complete performance in the third set, hitting a blazing .452 with 15 kills and just a single attack error to seal the sweep.
The Warrior attack featured a balanced effort across the board. Valerie Coward and Audrey Hyde co-led the team with nine kills apiece, with Hyde swinging at an efficient .389 clip. Ceanna O'Loughlin contributed seven kills, while Jordan Weston added six kills on a .313 hitting percentage to go along with a team-high four solo blocks. Setters Lily Underwood (15 assists) and Sierra McClure (11 assists) orchestrated the offense, helping Westmont post a .254 team hitting percentage.
At the service line, Westmont racked up 10 aces, highlighted by four from Alyson Wurster and three from Camila Cornejo-Farmer. Defensively, Weston anchored the frontline, while libero Rylee Elias controlled the back row with a match-high 15 digs.
Head Coach Ruth McGolpin:
"It's nice to be back in the win column. I think it was definitely a complete game and a good bounce-back win from yesterday. When I say complete, we had a balanced offense from all the players who played, so that was important.
"Our passing and serving was excellent, so we won the battle there. Obviously, we had incredible blocking, led by Jordan—she seems to be continuously on fire. As a team we did really well on the block, our hitting percentage was high, and the offense was humming. Now we just have to keep working."
