Shain Logeais joined the Westmont baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2021 season.
In his first season on the staff, Logeais helped guide the club through the COVID-19 pandemic. Miraculously, the club was able to play 52 games in 2021 without a single cancelation/postponement due to COVID protocols.
The club went 30-22, hosted one of nine NAIA Opening Rounds, and won two games in the tournament before being eliminated by eventual World Series Champion Georgia Gwinnett.
Logeais grew up in Long Beach, where he attended Long Beach Wilson High School and graduated from in 1992. He then attended Pepperdine University in Malibu as a left-handed pitcher.
“I learned a tremendous amount about the game of baseball and life from head coach Andy Lopez while at Pepperdine," Logeais said. "Coach Lopez with two D1 College World Series titles is a very effective coach, motivator and mentor to me. I am grateful for what I know about winning in life and on the baseball field as a result of my time with him."
During Logeais' second season at Pepperdine, a shoulder injury ended his pitching career. He then transferred to Biola University, where he was a successful first baseman and hitter. After graduating from Biola with a B.S. in 1997, Shain married his wife of 25 years and has two daughters currently attending university.
Shain has coached youth baseball off and on over the past 20 years as a private instructor, high school assistant coach and high school head coach in both Oregon and California.
“I am excited to bring my life and baseball experience to my coaching role here at Westmont as we pursue the NAIA World Series Title,” Logeais said.
Shain is also a business owner and entrepreneur. His current company manufactures fire danger signs for government agencies around the country and holds the license to Smokey Bear "Only You Can Prevent Wildfires."
