Josh Erickson returns to the Warriors coaching staff for his second season in 2022-2023.

Prior to Westmont, Erickson served as an Assistant Coach at Lincoln High School (Portland, Oregon) for two seasons under Head Coach Pat Adelman (2016-2018). During Erickson’s time on staff at Lincoln, the team qualified for the OSAA 6A state playoffs in both seasons including a 3rd place finish in 2017-2018. Adelman is a former teammate of Coach Boucher’s at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon.

Erickson has extensive international coaching experience at both the professional and National Team levels. He served as the Head Coach of San Ramon ARBA in Costa Rica from 2011-2015. During Erickson’s time as Head Coach, the team reached the national finals in six straight tournaments and won two National Championships (2012, 2015). The 2012 championship was the first in San Ramon’s history and the 2015 championship was highlighted by a 36-2 overall record. Erickson’s club team in San Ramon featured former players from VCU, Long Beach State University, University of Utah, Montana State University, Seton Hill University, Jackson State University, Southern University, Franklin and Marshall College, and MIT.

While in Costa Rica, Erickson was also involved with the Men’s Senior National Team from 2013-2016. As an Assistant Coach in 2013, Erickson was part of a staff that won the Gold Medal at the Juegos Centroamericanos (Central American Games). Erickson was named Head Coach of the Men’s Senior National Team in 2015 and led the team to a 2nd place finish in the FIBA COCABA Tournament (Central American Championship). His time as Head Coach of Costa Rica was highlighted by two historic victories against regional powers Mexico and Cuba.

“My family and I are thrilled to be part of the Westmont College and Santa Barbara communities. I have known Coach Boucher for over 25 years and I believe in his vision for the program and most importantly his passion for developing young men through basketball. It brings me great joy to be a Warrior and I am thankful for the opportunity Coach Boucher has provided to work with such amazing student-athletes and coaches.”

Erickson is originally from Salem, Oregon, and played collegiate basketball under Gordie James at Willamette University. He also served one year as an Assistant Coach at Willamette University under current Head Coach, Kip Ioane, while completing his Masters in Business Administration.

Erickson lives in Santa Barbara with his wife, Lisa, and their two children (Elliott-4, Sloan-2).
