Westmont College Athletics

Tovi Eliasen

Tovi Eliasen completed his eighth season at Westmont as an assistant coach and the team’s strength and conditioning specialist. He also works with the team’s goalkeepers.

With Eliasen on staff, the Warriors have won double-digit games four seasons in a row and have won Golden State Athletic Conference titles in three of the past four years, qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament on two occasions.

In 2016, he helped Westmont to a shared GSAC regular season championship, its first conference regular season title since 2002. The next year, he coached the team to a GSAC Tournament crown and its first NAIA National Tournament berth since 2008.

The 2019 team won the GSAC regular season after finishing undefeated in conference play for the first time in 30 years. The Warriors began the season 6-0, the best start to a campaign in program history, before reaching the Round of 16 of the NAIA National Tournament.

In 2020, Eliasen aided the team's journey through navigating the COVID-19 pandemic that saw the club's season not actually begin until February of 2021.

Regardless of circumstance, the club rallied together, going 7-2-1 including 5-0-1 in GSAC play to win the conference regular season championship. The icing on the cake came when the Warriors went on the road and defeated OUAZ in the GSAC Championship by a score of 2-1, with the game-winner coming in the 90th minute.

As Westmont's goalkeeper coach, Eliasen worked closely with and mentored Edward "Lalo" Delgado ('19), who recently signed a professional contract with USL Championship side Las Vegas Lights FC. Delgado started the team's season opener before the season was put on hold due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

A native of the bay area, Eliasen has lived and worked in Santa Barbara since 2006.

Eliasen most recently served as the boys’ varsity head coach at Dos Pueblos High School, where he led the program to lofty heights. In his two years at DPHS, the Chargers had a record of 35-13-9, and won 18 games (2010-11) and 17 games (2009-10), respectively.

In 2009-10, Eliasen led his squad all the way to the CIF Finals, where they played against Channel League rival Santa Barbara High School in front of 8,000 fans at Harder Stadium (UCSB).

From 2008-2009, Eliasen served as the boys’ varsity assistant coach at Dos Pueblos.

Before moving to Santa Barbara, Eliasen worked as the boys’ varsity head coach at Valley Christian High School in Northern California (2006).

Beyond coaching, Eliasen is also a local business owner in Goleta. He is the founder of “Cool Brook Fitness, Personal Training,” a private company he established in 2007.

Eliasen holds both an Advanced National Diploma, and Goalkeeper Level 3 Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches. He also holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and American Council on Exercise (ACE) as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT).

Eliasen has many ties to the area and community, having attended and graduated from Westmont College in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in communication studies and kinesiology. While a student, Eliasen began his coaching journey, serving as the head coach of the men’s club soccer program for two years. Before enrolling at Westmont, Eliasen spent two seasons playing for nationally recognized Santa Barbara City College.

Tovi and his wife, Rebecca, have three children: Cruz (9), London (7) and Rex (born in June of 2020).
