Hannah Holman was born in Colorado but grew up training in the Arizona swimming community. She was introduced to swimming, when her Mom - a Westmont Track and Field Alum - tried to find a way to escape the summer heat by putting Holman and her 3 siblings in summer recreational leagues. She swam for Phoenix Swim Club and Scottsdale Aquatics Club. Additionally, Holman swam for Shadow Mountain High School where she was coached by former Olympian Misty Hyman. While a member of these teams, she won several state championships and made finals at the sectional and junior national level. She was a member of a relay that broke a national age group record.Â
After high school, Holman attended the University of Tennessee as a recruited swimmer. At the University of Tennessee, she reached the finals of the SEC Championships, made the NCAA team as a relay member, and attended both the Canadian Olympic Trials and United States Olympic Trials. Additionally, Holman pursued a Bachelors in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology.
While competing for the Volunteers, Holman took a red shirt year and completed her bachelors a year early, which in turn afforded her the opportunity to complete her Master's in Speech Language Pathology while still competing for the Volunteers. She engaged with her school's Athlete's in Action chapter and found support and community through a local church in Knoxville. "God really taught me the importance of relationships and that joy comes from finding my identity in Christ, rather than swimming or any worldly accomplishments," said Holman of her time in Knoxville.Â
Upon graduation, Holman began working as a speech language pathologist within Scottsdale Unified School District. She also coached the swim team at her old high school and was the assistant coach for several groups at her old club Scottsdale Aquatics Club. Currently, Holman is one of the speech language pathologists at San Marcos High School. She still swims for exercise because she loves it and is starting to catch the triathlon bug. Her father played baseball and her mother ran track and cross country for the Westmont Warriors. To add to the fun, both of her sisters graduated from Westmont as well.
Holman will be spending the 2021-22 year working as a speech language pathologist within Santa Barbara Unified School District and volunteering as an assistant coach for the swim team.
