Warriors and Cougars Play Without Scoring

Westmont Women's Soccer (1-2-2) has played two games on the new Thorrington Field and has yet to give up a goal. However, the Warriors have also failed to score a goal against their opponents despite 220 minutes of home field advantage.

Today's stalemate came courtesy of the #12 Cal State San Marcos Cougars (3-1-2). In 90 minutes of regulation and two ten-minute overtime periods, the Warriors out shot the Cougars 10-9. Westmont senior keeper Roxanne Love earned the eleventh shutout of here career while producing three saves. The Cougar's Kaycee Gunion notched five saves.

The Warriors had two great opportunities in the second overtime period. However, freshman Jenny Martinez' shot went just a bit high and sophomore Aolani Rueff's attempt was a bit wide.

Next week, the Warriors will hit the road for two games in northern California. On Thursday, Westmont will take on William Jessup at Mahany Park in Roseville. Then on Saturday, Westmont will travel to Oakland to play against Holy Names.
