(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) In just 25 minutes of play,
Kaitlin Larson tallied 17 points and seven rebounds to help lead #4 Westmont Women's Basketball (4-1) to an 83-40 victory over Simpson (0-7) on Friday evening in Murchison Gym.
Â
"I was pleased with our inside-out game tonight," said veteran Westmont head coach
Kirsten Moore. "I thought we had some good connection between our guards and our posts. We did another good job on the boards. That continues to be a focus for us."
Â
Sydney Brown played 24 minutes and led the Warriors with 10 rebounds while tallying nine points. Off the bench, freshman
Aleena Cook tallied 14 points – one for each minute she played –
Gabriella Stoll tallied eight points and six rebounds and Destiny Okonswo added six points, four rebounds and three blocks.
Â
"Aleena has such a huge upside with her athleticism," noted Moore. "She has been shooting the ball great all year. She is still learning our system as a freshman, but she is making an impact for us when she gets out there on the court."
Â
Also scoring in double figures was
Stefanie Berberabe who tallied 12 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and three steals.
Â
"It was great to see Stef healthy and feeling back to herself today," remarked Moore. "She had an impact in every statistical category. She was on triple-double pace, but I obviously chose to rest her some and not keep her out there.
Â
The Warriors and Red Hawks will face off again tomorrow afternoon at Murchison Gymnasium.

We are grateful for every day we have an opportunity to step on the court and play. Due to state and county mandates forbidding spectators at intercollegiate games, fans will not be permitted to attend.
