Westmont Men's Tennis bounced back in a big way on Saturday morning, when they handed Pomona-Pitzer a 7-0 loss on their home court. Westmont lost a tough one against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday night, and Westmont head coach Chris Elwood said he wanted the Warriors to come out with a better start on Saturday.

In doubles, PPU got the better of Westmont on three, but at one and two, the Warriors took care of business. On one, Ethan Ha and Austin Stone defeated Owen Kelley and Sam English (6-2), and on two, Logan Thompson and Owen Vander Ark took care of Eshaan Lumba and Luke Feng 6-3.

In singles, it was a clean sweep for the Warriors. On one, Stone out-lasted Rohun Krishnan 7-6 (5), 6-2, and one two, Logan Thompson defeated English in three-setter 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. On three, Ethan Ha won third-set tiebreaker over Neil Chulani (6-3, 5-7, 10-6), and on four, Goor Adiv handled Feng by a score of 6-4, 6-2.

Rounding things out, Owen Vander Ark prevailed over Kelley in three sets on five (6-4, 2-6, 6-3), and Preston Hastings got it done in a tiebreaker over Roshan Morey on six (4-6, 7-5, 10-1).

"We bounced back today," said Elwood. "Pomona-Pitzer is a ranked team at the Division III level, but we got it done with a hard-fought 7-0 win.

"Winning four three-setters and a tiebreaker was great. That was a dominant win against a very tough team. They killed us two years ago, but it shows you how far we've come."

Elwood continued, "It really was a perfect day. We won five of six first set today, after not taking a single won yesterday. I couldn't be more proud of the guys. It was a total team effort. That's a team that could beat us on any given day, but we came out confident, dominant, and they took a giant step forward today."

Westmont continues their road trip next Saturday at 1:00 p.m., when they travel to take on the Whittier Poets.
