(WHITTIER, Calif.) Westmont Men's Tennis got it done in dominant fashion on Saturday, when the Warriors defeated NCAA Division III Whittier by a score of 9-0. Westmont would not surrender a single set against the Poets, with the Warriors taking all three doubles matches before doing the same in six singles matches.

In doubles, the Warriors won a trio of competitive matches beginning with Ethan Ha and Austin Stone on one. On one, Ha and Stone defeated Ahmed Amer and Julius Clasen 8-5, before Logan Thompson and Owen Vander Ark defeated Joey Henderson and Yash Nagdev 8-6 on two. On three, Jarett Navarat and Goor Adiv capped off a doubles sweep with an 8-6 win over Justin Ninomiya and Maas Jacobs.

In singles, Stone got Westmont on the board with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Prayag Ahire, before Thompson defeated Nagdev 6-3, 6-3 on two. On three, Ha took care of Clasen 6-1, 6-1, and on four, Adiv handled Joey Henderson 6-2, 6-0.

Rounding things out, Vander Ark beat Amer 6-4, 6-3 on five, and Preston Hastings defeated Jacobs 6-4, 6-0 on six.

"That was a solid win today," said Westmont head coach Chris Elwood. "After a slow start in doubles, we found a way, and barely squeaked out all three. With that, I challenged the guys to raise their level of tennis as we were going into singles, because I felt we needed to build some momentum going into our Point Loma match on Monday.

"With that, credit to the guys. They responded with some bold and courageous tennis. A specific highlight was at line three in doubles, with Jarett and Goor. They played great tennis. In singles, Austin Stone was a highlight as well, playing with an injured hand. It didn't stop him from playing great, efficient tennis, and he got off the court as soon as we could."

The Warriors will return on Monday at 2:00 p.m., when they host Point Loma at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club.
