(ORANGE, Calif.) Westmont Women's Tennis (5-3) won its third in a row on Wednesday afternoon in Orange County, where the Warriors bested NCAA Division III Chapman by a score of 4-3. It started in doubles, where Westmont got the job done to claim the match's first point. Then, when it came down to one final match in singles, it was a familiar face playing hero for the club.
Westmont's line one doubles team
Thea Donarski and
Sabina Salva, made quick work of their opponents 6-0. After falling at line two, the Warriors' relied on
Justie Spitzer and
Emma Rashid, who took the victory at line three 6-3 to win Westmont the doubles point.
Donarski was dominant in singles as she was in doubles, winning her line one match 6-1, 6-0. Westmont's third point came from
Justie Spitzer, who won 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 at line three. However, after Chapman won three matches of their own, it all came down to freshman
Ellie Triplett at line four.
It was not the first time this season that Triplett had all eyes on her, and it was not the first time this season she shined under that microscope. With a 7-5, 0-6, 7-6 (5) win, Triplett played hero once more, securing Westmont a 4-3 win on Wednesday afternoon.
Westmont will return to action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., when the Warriors host Biola in Santa Barbara.
