Westmont College Athletics

A former NCAA Division II student-athlete and professional goalkeeper, Matthew joins the Westmont Warriors Men’s Soccer coaching staff ahead of the 2025 PacWest season.

Escareño began his collegiate career at Oxnard Community College before transferring to Cal State San Marcos, where he competed at the NCAA Division II level from 2018–2019 and earned his degree in sociology. After college, he continued his playing career professionally with Albion San Diego, Ventura County Fusion, and Irvine Zeta FC.

Transitioning into coaching in 2023, Escareño has built experience across multiple youth programs, including Oaks FC, DAC, and AYSO Region 69. In 2024, he was named goalkeeper coach at Loyola High School, where he helped guide the team to finalist finishes in both the CIF Open Division and CIF Regional Division.

Escareño currently holds a United States Soccer Federation "D" License.
