Warriors March Past Eagles

In their second to last Golden State Athletic Conference match, ninth ranked Westmont Men's Tennis (7-7, 6-2 GSAC) made a significant stride towards becoming GSAC regular season co-champions when they defeated Biola (10-11, 3-5 GSAC) by a score of 8-1.

If Westmont is victorious in their final conference match this Saturday, they will be GSAC regular season co-champions with San Diego Christian (9-3, 7-2 GSAC).

In singles play, the Warriors won five out of six matches.

Playing at number one, Carl Lindqvist defeated Philip Westwood 6-2, 6-4; at number two, Luke Whalen conquered Lucas Lee in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 7-5; at number three, Travis Kimsey was victorious against Luke Mountain 6-3, 6-1; at number four, Christian Mathis overcame Joe Turnquist 6-0, 6-2; at number five, Tommy Nightingale fell to David Garcia in three sets 7-5, 3-6, 6-4; and at number six, Jordan Strandness defeated Andrew Greenfield 6-3, 6-3.

The Warriors swept in doubles play and were victorious in all three matches.

Playing at number one, Lindqvist and Kimsey defeated Lee and Mountain 8-2; at number two, Mathis and Whalen conquered Turnquist and Westwood 8-2; and at number three, Nightingale and Strandness overcame Michael Vartuli and Garcia 8-6.

The Warriors will host their final conference match against Hope International this coming Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
